What is electricity? How many types of electricity

What is electricity?

Electricity is a form of energy that cannot be seen with the naked eye but can be felt. The energy created by the flow of electrons through a conductor is called electricity.

How many types of electricity

Electricity is generally of two types

     (i) Static electricity

     (ii) Electricity

Electrically conductive material

The conductor is a substance through which electricity can easily flow from one place to another without any obstruction.

Three types of conductors

1. Good Conductor: A substance that can easily conduct electricity is called a good conductor. The number of electrons in the last orbit of an atom is 1,2,3. Such as - Copper, Gold, Silver, Aluminum, Zinc, Brass, Nickel, Lead, Tin, Platinum, Phosphor Bronze, Mercury, etc.

2. Semi-Conductor (Semi-Conductor): A substance that is partially obstructed when electricity flows through it is called Semiconductor. Such as -Carbon, silicon, mica, coal, germanium, Ibiza soil, Ibiza bamboo, etc.

3. Insulator The substance through which electricity cannot flow is called an insulator. The number of electrons in the last orbit of an atom is 5,6,7. For example Bakelite, asbestos, marble, stone, rubber, porcelain, cotton, dry paper, dried bamboo, etc.

What is the series circuit?

If two or more resistors or loads are connected one after the other in such a way that there is only one path of current flow, it is called a series circuit.

Characteristics of series circuits:

(i) The same amount of current flows through all the loads or resistors connected in the series circuit. I.e. I = I1 + I2 + I3 + ——– + In

(ii) The sum of the voltage drops of each register or load connected in a series circuit is equal to the voltage applied to the circuit. Meaning V = V1 + V2 + V3 + ——— + Vn

(iii) The sum of the resistors of the registers or loads connected in a series circuit is equal to the total resistance (of the circuit). That is R = R1 + R2 + R3 + ——– + Rn

What is a parallel circuit?

Multiple resistors or loads are connected to each other in the landscape of an electrical source in such a way that multiple paths of current flow exist but are called parallel circuits.

Features of the parallel circuit:

(i) The voltage drop across the horizontal of each load or resistor connected in a parallel circuit is equal to the voltage applied to the circuit. That is 1 / R = 1 / R1 + 1 / R2 + 1 / R3 + ——– + 1 / Rn

(ii) Adding the value of each resistor connected in a parallel circuit in reverse, the sum is equal to the inverse value of the equivalent (circuit) resistance.

What is Star Connection?

In a three-phase system, if one end of each coil is connected to make a star or neutral point, it is called a star connection.

What is a delta connection?

In a three-phase system, when the end of one phase is connected to the beginning of the second phase, the end of the second phase to the beginning of the third phase, and the end of the third phase to the beginning of the first phase is connected like the Greek alphabet delta.

Why the Star-Delta connection is used

1. Three-phase machines are smaller in size than single-phase.

2. As a result, the lower the price, the lower the amount of conductive material in three phases to transmit the same power at the same voltage over the same distance.

3. Three phase motor is self starting, three phase machine runs more smoothly (less vibrated). \ N 4. Three phase alternator is easy to synchronize.

5. In three phase method voltage drop from source to load is less.

Three phases are used due to many more advantages like this. And the method of three phase connection is two: Star-Delta Three phase motor has star connection at the starting moment and delta connection at 40% running (three starter is used for this). Because if more current is given at the beginning (more current in delta) the coil may burn.
